Laurie Ferguson Water Playground Opens at Granville Park

Western Sydney families have a brand-new spot to cool off, and it’s guaranteed to be a hit on warm days. The Laurie Ferguson Water Playground has officially opened at Granville Park in Merrylands, bringing an exciting new splash zone and upgraded play space for kids of all ages.

Part of a major revamp of the park's playspace, the refreshed water playground delivers a bigger, brighter, and more interactive water-play experience designed to get kids running, splashing, and exploring all day long.

The upgraded Granville Park Playground introduces a dynamic splash park packed with water features that encourage creativity, movement and good old-fashioned splashy fun.

There is a new mix of sprays, fountains and water play elements that let kids run through streams, dodge surprise splashes and cool off during those hot Sydney afternoons. The space has been designed to let children explore and interact with the water in different ways, making it perfect for everything from toddler splashing to energetic games with friends.

The playground redevelopment also adds new play elements and improved facilities, helping transform Granville Park into an even better destination for local families.

Alongside the splash zone, the upgrade includes modern amenities to make visits easier for families, including improved change rooms and toilets near the play area.

Granville Park itself is already a popular community hub with plenty of space for a full day out. The large park features sports fields, barbecue areas, playground equipment and open green spaces, so you can easily turn a quick splash session into a relaxed family picnic or park playdate.

The Story Behind The Name

The splash park honours Laurie Ferguson, who served as the Member for Granville in the NSW Legislative Assembly between 1984 and 1990.

The redevelopment keeps this local legacy alive while introducing a modern play space for a new generation of kids to enjoy.

The hours of all City of Parramatta Council water parks changed last year....they now operate 9am to 8pm in spring, summer and autumn and are closed in winter.
