A white Christmas is nothing compared to a toasty warm Christmas in the city down under, especially when its streets are sprinkled with lights and the beautiful harmonies of angelic choirs. There’s no shortage of Christmas concerts and places to hear carols in Sydney. Check out our picks of the best places for families to hear Christmas carols:

Coogee Carols

A beachside Christmas celebration, Coogee Carols will be held at Goldstein Reserve, Coogee Beach from 6.30pm to 8.30pm on Sunday 22nd December. Local celebrities volunteer their time to appear at the Coogee Carols, performing traditional and contemporary carols, with a live band and, of course, Santa! This year the event is hosted by Amanda Keller and includes a big line up of performers, including Simon the Red Wiggle! Screens are placed at the reserve to ensure that everyone can see the performances. Carols In The Domain

In its 37th year, Woolworths Carols in the Domain is Australia's largest FREE Christmas concert, with performances from a variety of popular artists. This year's lineup includes Mickey Mouse and Todd McKenney! It's all happening on Friday 21st  December from 7.45pm (with the Christmas Carnival kicking off from 12pm). If the concert is past your little one's bedtime, you can watch it on Channel 7 from 8pm. 

Christmas Carols at Chiswick Gardens

Queen Street and West Woollahra Association are hosting their annual Christmas Carols in beautiful Chiswick Gardens! Come along and celebrate Christmas and community on Tuesday 10th December from 5:30-8pm, with carol singers from local schools, face painters, jumping castles, hot food from the BBQ, and of course, a visit from Santa Claus. Find out more about Christmas Carols at Chiswick Gardens.

HMAS Watson Carols By The Bay

Access the HMAS Watsons Naval Base in Watsons Bay for their annual Carols By The Bay, set against a spectacular view of Sydney Harbour. On Saturday 7th December 2019, 3:30pm-8:00pm the Royal Australian Navy Band will perform their repertoire of modern and traditional Christmas songs, plus there's music from local schools, food stalls and kids entertainment. Santa will visit and the Navy will host a historical sunset ceremony. 

Carols Under The Bridge, Kirribilli

Imagine singing Jingle Bells with the glistening harbour in view! Hosted by Kirribilli’s Church By The Bridge, this is a carolling affair like no other. On Saturday 21st December, Carols Under The Bridge celebrates Christmas against the beautiful Sydney Harbour backdrop. Bring a picnic from 5pm and join Christmas Carols from 6pm - 8pm.

Carols In The Park, Five Dock 

Save the date for an evening of carols, children activities, entertainment and Christmas cheer with your family and friends at Carols in the Park. This annual festive family event hosted by Communities for Communities will be held on Wednesday 18th December at Halliday Park. Kicks off 6pm, with carols beginning at 7.30pm.

Sydney Christmas Children's Concert 

On Saturday 30th November, pack your picnic rug and get in early for the best view of this FREE concert at Prince Alfred Park, Surry Hills. Hosted by The Listies and featuring children's favourites Justine Clarke, Jimmy Giggle, SplashDance, Sesame Street and Carpe Idiotus. Kids will love craft activities and games like table tennis and giant Jenga that they can play with Christmas elves! Sydney Christmas Children's Concert runs from 6.30pm - 8.30pm. Look out for Santa and stay for the fireworks which will be wrapping up the evening. Jam-packed Chrissy stockings will be available for $5, with all proceeds going to Variety – The Children’s Charity.

The Magic Of Christmas At The Concourse

Celebrate The Magic of Christmas at this enchanting concert for the whole family on Sunday 8th December from 2pm! Led by the renowned conductor, Simon Thew, experience the full glory of the Willoughby Symphony and special guest soloists from Pacific Opera performing all your favourite carols in a memorable festive celebration.

Alexandria Village Christmas Concert

On Friday 13th December, experience the magic of Christmas at this FREE family-friendly Alexandria Village Christmas Concert. Hosted by The Listies and featuring children’s favourites the Bunny Rackets, Ally Boom Boom & The Cool Bananas, SplashDance and Hot Potato Band, it will be an action-packed event complete with a visit from Santa. Kids will also enjoy craft activities and games with the Christmas elves. Santa stockings jam-packed with goodies will be on sale for $5, with all proceeds going to Variety - The Children's Charity.

Carols By The Sea

Bring a picnic rug to sit on, sing to your heart's delight and welcome in the festive season at Carols by the Sea! At South Bondi Park on Wednesday 11th December from 4.30pm, this merry FREE annual event brings the community together to celebrate the spirit of Christmas. With children's entertainment, Christmas tunes, dance performances and carol singing (including Bondi Beach Public School Choir), it promises to be a fun night for everyone! 

The Lights of Christmas at St Mary’s Cathedral

St Mary’s Cathedral will again be the star of Sydney’s public Christmas celebrations, with the Lights of Christmas returning to capture the imagination of audiences with a spectacular light and sound show. From Thursday 5th December until (and including) Christmas Day, there will be carols at 7.30pm each evening to kick off the show.

Christmas at the Zoo, Taronga Zoo

Bring the family and get into the festive spirit with live entertainment in an iconic location. Sing along to your favourite carols set against the backdrop of Sydney Harbour, enjoy amazing performances, and keep your eyes peeled for an appearance from a very special guest, all the way from the North Pole. Tickets for Christmas At The Zoo start from $22 for children, $36 for a concession and $40 for adults. 

Choirs In The City: Pitt St Mall 

Festive tunes will power you through your Chrissy shopping every Thursday, Saturday and Sunday night from Sunday 25th November to Sunday 23rd December. Choirs in the City will enchant Pitt Street Mall with a choir line-up including The Jingle Belles Singers, The Children's Charity Choir and the Australian Youth Choir.

Choirs In The City: Martin Place

From Thursday 28th November through to Christmas Eve, choirs will be taking turns to sing carols under the branches of the magnificent Martin Place Christmas tree for Choirs In The City. The lineup includes The Australian Girls Choir, Gardeners Road Public School, Sydney Philharmonia and The Salvation Army Band and Choir.

Strathfield Christmas Carols 

Strathfield Council invites locals and visitors to Bressington Park on Saturday 7th December from 5:00pm for Strathfield Christmas Carols. There will be Christmas performances, a visit from Santa and fun children’s activities. Make sure to stay for the Christmas family movie screening of The Grinch and the spectacular fireworks finale!

Carols By Candelight 

Just because this epic annual Christmas Eve concert and Vision Australia fundraiser is in Melbourne doesn't mean you have to miss out! Presented by David Campbell and Sonia Kruger, Channel 9 will be airing Carols By Candelight Carols live from 8pm, and replaying the concert on Christmas Day (check your TV Guide for replay air times). Why not have a Chrissy picnic with the kids on your lounge room floor, sit back and enjoy the concert from your telly? Sure beats the crowd of 10,000 people!

Carols In The Park, Wiley Park

Pack a picnic and head to the Wiley Park Amphitheatre from 6pm on Sunday 1st December for a FREE night of festive entertainment. Diana Rouvas, The Voice Australia 2019 winner, will headline the event with a line-up of amazing performers. There will be a visit from Santa, a Magic Reindeer Show and some great food on offer and a dazzling display of fireworks. 

Carols In The Crescent At Parramatta Park With Guy Sebastian

Hosted by Guy and Jules Sebastian, Carols In The Crescent is a FREE community event that raises funds for The Sebastian Foundation. On Saturday 14th December some of the finest voices in the country will be belting out our all-time favourite festive songs. Don’t miss Santa, the Christmas Grinch, kids’ rides and all the food stalls from a family-friendly start-time of 4pm (through to 9pm).  

Christmas by the Beach, Dee Why

Bring your friends, family and a picnic blanket down to Dee Why Beach for the annual Christmas by the Beach concert on Friday 13th December from 4:00pm to 8:00pm. All your favourite traditional carols and a children's Christmas show bringing entertainment for the whole family. There will be free face painting, free Santa photos as well as a jumping castle for the kids!

Carols On The Green, Annandale

Carols with some Inner West flavour! One for the bigger kids and adult to enjoy, Carols on the Green is on Sunday 22nd December from 7:30pm at Annandale’s Village Green. Sit back and chill out to a mix of contemporary and traditional carols during this FREE concert hosted by Village Church.

Christmas Choral Concert, Manly

Northern Beaches Council's FREE Christmas Choral Concert spectacular will take over Manly Oval from 5pm on Thursday 5th December. feature much-loved carols presented by the Northern Beaches Orchestra and Christmas Choral Concert Community Choir. Special guest artists who will perform throughout the evening including a visit from Santa himself! Delicious food vendors and Christmas face painting will be available.

Rotary Carols in the Park, Mona Vale

Bring the whole family down to Mona Vale Village Park on Saturday 14th December from 6:30pm for Christmas Carols in the Park. It's a fun, free event with great entertainment from talented local singers and musicians who will lead the traditional Christmas songs. Refreshments available and festivities will reach their peak when Santa makes his grand entrance.

Carols by the Lake, North Narrabeen

Join the local community as they celebrate Christmas on the Northern Beaches. Carols, fireworks, Santa and food trucks will takeover Lakeside Park, North Narrabeen! Pre-entertainment starts at 6pm and main carols at 7pm. Carols by the Lake is a FREE, sustainable event hosted by The Link Church.
