Celebrate Children's Week with North Sydney Council this October!

To celebrate Children’s Week, North Sydney Council is holding a week-long extravaganza of creative workshops across the region, culminating with the Children’s Festival on Saturday 28 October.

Kicking off on 21 October, the science-themed creative workshops are a new addition to Council’s Children’s Week festivities and all explore this year’s theme of ‘Art Meets Science’. Suitable for children aged between three to 12-years- old, the workshops include shadow puppetry, papermaking, pinhole cameras, origami and body percussion.

The workshops wrap up on Saturday 28 October with a celebration of childhood at the Children’s Festival, bringing together the North Sydney community for a day of creative and family-friendly fun in Civic Park between 10am and 2pm. At this year’s festival, children can step into the Storytime Teepee and join storytellers from the Aboriginal Heritage Office and Stanton Library. They can marvel at erupting volcanoes with North Sydney Scouts, grow their very own Native Grass Head with Council’s Bushcare Team or solve a crime with North Sydney Police using fingerprint forensics. Children can also discover the science of sound with North Sydney Girls High School Band and learn about the importance of blue carbon in combating climate change with the science whizzes at Culture at Work.
