Sydney's arts and cultural scene is getting a massive glow-up this February when Macquarie Street is set to be transformed with floral art installations, a native flower market, workshops, gourmet bush food, live music, live theatre, and a giant glow-in-the-dark Playdough Garden!

For 24 hours straight from 4 to 5 February 2023, Macquarie Street (from Hyde Park Barracks to the State Library of NSW) will be shut down to make way for Sydney's first-ever FREE Mopoke Festival. The 24-hour arts fair is named after Australia's most common owl, and, like the Mopoke, this exciting event will stay open throughout the night of the 4th, when visitors can lose themselves in an artists' playground.

Entry is FREE, and there is a range of ticketed events and workshops on offer, from glow-in-the-dark painting to coil making, sculpture classes, and meet-the-artist tutorials.

The Mint at night.

Australia's native flora will be highlighted when The Mint is transformed into a native flower garden, depicting the ancient stories and legends of Gadigal land. At night, witness the same floral creations come alight with glow-in-the-dark photo luminescence enhanced with a classical music concert. Starting at 6 pm, visitors are invited to walk through this unique pop-up Australian flora market to delight in native flowers and plants.

Bushtucker cooking demonstrations, candle-making, flame-throwing, food trucks, plus a three-metre-high giant owl floral sculpture and human-sized flower figures are just some of the curious happenings coming to Mopoke Sydney!

Where:     Along Macquarie Street
When:      4-5 February 2023
Cost:        FREE entry with ticketed workshops available.
