Be inspired by artist Mechelle Bounpraseuth’s luscious ceramics and get hands-on, creating fruit or decorating your own canned-food label to add to the shelves of a shrine. Drop in anytime during opening hours. Materials and instructions are provided. Suitable for all ages and abilities. Children under 12 must be supervised by an adult.

Mike Hewson: The Key's Under the Mat

Perfect for a rainy day (or any day for that matter!), the Nelson Packer Tank is transformed with a free exhibition that blurs the lines between art, park, and playground. Artist Mike Hewson has reimagined the Tank, transforming the space into an interactive installation where visitors of all ages can meet, dwell, play, make, perform, explore, and more!
Planning a party or group gathering? The Art Gallery also offer a ticketed 60-minute early entry for groups of up to 25 or 50 people. Gather your group, plan your party and enjoy!

Start your little one’s cinematic journey with Cinémathèque Junior - fortnightly screenings designed to inspire and delight. These relaxed family sessions take place in a lightly dimmed theatre, with easy pram access. During the holidays, book in for Babe (1995), the iconic Aussie classic about the little pig with a very big dream. On a friendly farm full of quirky animals, Babe discovers he has a talent no one expected: herding sheep. With courage, kindness and a lot of heart, this much-loved film celebrates believing in yourself and finding your place in the world.

Learn how to make and string paper beads in this wearable art workshop designed by Gulumerridjin (Larrakia), Wardaman and Karajarri artist Jenna Mayilema Lee. Collect a template, pop out the paper eucalypt leaves and beads, and thread them on a string to transform the shapes into beautiful designs you can wear.

Get back to nature, and join a friendly volunteer guide for a ramble through the Art Gallery of New South Wales collection in the historic Naala Nura building. Look at the natural world in all its glory and explore how artists connect with nature and express wonder and awe, making some of your own art along the way.

Join a friendly volunteer guide for a roving art-making tour of the Art Gallery of NSW’s historic Naala Nura building. Explore playful artworks that express emotion through colour, shape and imagery, hear the stories behind them, and then create your own artworks along the way.
