The Sunshine Coast is set to get a fantastic new waterpark, with Aussie World proposing a $60-million new waterpark at Palmview. Complementing the high-energy family fun at the existing theme park, the new Aussie World waterpark will be a major drawcard for families visiting the area.

Plans for a $60 million waterpark next to Aussie World have officially been approved by Sunshine Coast Council, meaning a huge splashy expansion could soon be on the way to Palmview.

The proposed waterpark will be built on privately owned land just north of the existing Aussie World site and, if the concept designs are anything to go by, it's shaping up to be a serious summer playground.

Aussie World's parent company, Timevale Pty Ltd, first lodged the development application in June 2024, with the proposal progressing through council requests for additional information over the past year. On 6 March 2026, Sunshine Coast Council officially approved the project, giving the green light subject to 105 conditions and a six-year currency period for the development.

What's Coming to the New Water Park

The plans include a whole string of family fun, dining and entertainment, including:

  • 16 waterslides catering to thrill seekers of all levels
  • multiple pools and dedicated waterplay zones for younger kids
  • food and drink outlets
  • a pool bar
  • sun lounges
  • private cabanas
  • and souvenir shop, giving it full resort-style energy rather than your average splash park.

This thrilling concept includes fun for every age and stage and promises to position Aussie World as a premier entertainment destination in South East Queensland. And with the Gold Coast and all its many attractions right on their doorstep, that's no mean feat.

Aussie World general manager Jenny Howell said: "As the largest sustainable and accessible waterpark on the Sunshine Coast, and with its proximity to Aussie World, this project will be hugely popular and something that locals can be proud of."

A First Nations Experience

Separate from the Waterpark proposal, Timevale has filed additional plans with the council for a "First Nations experience" at the park.

This would replace four existing commercial tenancies in the retail village, along with additional space behind the tenancies.

According to the development application, the new facility would "provide a learning experience about the First Nations people of Australia, with a specific focus on the Sunshine Coast region."

Aussie World Water Park Opening Date

Sadly, no official opening date has been set yet.

Expected to attract 780,000 annual visitors by 2031, this new waterpark is expected to significantly boost the local economy. Get ready for some serious splash-filled fun on the Sunshine Coast!
