Platypus Rescue HQ

Catch a glimpse of a platypus for the first time ever at the zoo in the brand-new Platypus Rescue HQ! Meet Mackenzie, the charming 23-year-old male platypus, as he explores his new digs, hunting for yabbies and mealworms to his heart's content. The Platypus Rescue HQ isn't just about adorable aquatic critters; it's also the world's largest rescue facility for platypus - a special place dedicated to animal care and conservation endeavours, with room for up to 65 rescued platypus. Get a unique sneak peek at conservation in action!

Taronga Wildlife Hospital Dubbo

Step into the action and witness the zoo's dedicated team of vets and nurses caring for all sorts of animals, from tiny turtles to majestic lions, at the Taronga Wildlife Hospital. Opened in December 2022, the hospital provides treatment and care to all of the animals that call the Zoo home, as well as over 500 native wildlife cases annually! Make sure you catch a glimpse of the endangered Regent Honeyeater in the aviary.

Daily Keeper Activities

Throughout your visit, daily keeper activities will keep you enthralled across the 5.5km zoo circuit. From Asian elephants to playful meerkats, something fascinating happens every step of the way. See the animals at feeding time, and hear from the keepers who look after them. There are fascinating and diverse activities happening every day, included in the cost of zoo entry.

Tours and Encounters

For an immersive experience, uncover what zoo life is really like! Sign up for one of the behind-the-scenes tours or encounters with meerkats, hippos, tigers and elephants on offer during the winter school holidays. Climb aboard the Savannah Safari tour to see Giraffes, Zebras and White Rhinos or venture into the lion’s den on board Lion Pride Lands Patrol, for a closer look at the growing pride including three cubs. These experiences are in addition to zoo admission.
