From writer and director Chris Bendall, comes a captivating theatrical production that weaves together two compelling narratives: one magical, the other grounded in reality.

Black Sun/Blood Moon, inspired by the Fridays for Future student-led protests in 2019, follows the journeys of two unlikely heroes, Maddy and Katie, who embark on separate quests to save the planet.

Daring Heroes, Epic Quests: Black Sun/Blood Moon Inspires Change

Maddy, a ten-year-old climate champion, is spurred by her father, Paul, who unintentionally ignites her passion for climate activism when he participates in a school climate strike. As Maddy delves deeper into the fight for a sustainable future, she faces increasing risks and challenges, bringing her message directly to the powers that be.

On the other hand, Katie, an underachieving assistant to a climate-denying politician, is thrust into a fantastical adventure from the future. As she undertakes this quest, she finds herself riding on the backs of eagles and dolphins, encountering magical creatures, and overcoming obstacles along the way.

These parallel storylines intersect to explore themes of climate change activism, personal growth, and the power of collective action. Black Sun/Blood Moon serves as a reflection of the urgency to address environmental issues and the resilience of young activists in demanding change.

Featuring stunning video and projection, and amazing life-size puppetry by Erth Visual and Physical, Black Sun/Blood Moon will delight families with young people 12 years and older.
