- All Ages
2022 is the year to be an art-lover in Sydney, as the 23rd Biennale of Sydney is taking place to celebrate all things art, ideas, and thought-provoking concepts.
2022 Celebrates the 23rd Biennale of Sydney
Running every two years, the Biennale of Sydney was created back in 1973 and has transformed into one of the leading contemporary art events in the world, recognised for commissioning and presenting innovative, thought-provoking art from Australia and the world.
rīvus is the title of the 2022 Biennale of Sydney, which means 'stream' in Latin and will ignite ideas of dynamic living systems and aqueous beings with thought-provoking questions such as can a river sue us over psychoactive sewage? Will oysters grow teeth in aquatic revenge? What do the eels think?
400 events with more than 330 artworks by 89 participants will fill the Biennale of Sydney calendar from March to June 2022. Get ready to see some of Sydney's iconic event spaces come to life, including The Cutaway at Barangaroo Reserve, the Art Gallery of New South Wales, Circular Quay, Museum of Contemporary Art Australia, The Rocks and Walsh Bay Arts Precinct.
Entry to the Biennale of Sydney is FREE. Check out the full lineup of events via the website.
