“It’s not who we are underneath, but what we do that defines us.”  Batman

A Hard-To-Beat Friday Night

Imagine this. Dressing up as your favourite Super Hero, doing a torchlight tour of the Space Centre by night, creating a Super Hero story with a storyteller, visiting the LEGO Art of the Brick: DC Comics exhibition followed by a movie and popcorn before settling down for the night under the planes and satellites. Friday nights do not get much better than this!

Amazing LEGO Sculptures

The LEGO exhibition is absolutely incredible and was the highlight for my mini batman. Created by legendary LEGO artist Nathan Sawaya, this contemporary art exhibition uses over a million bricks to create more than 120 large-scale sculptures igniting the imaginations of both young and old alike.

No Rumbling Tummies

Dinner and breakfast are included in the ticket price and we certainly did not go hungry. For dinner there was a choice of crumbed chicken, pumpkin salad, and spaghetti and meatballs as well as hot chips. For breakfast there was the choice of coco pops, muesli, and a selection of pastries.

A Magical Experience

This is truly one of those magical Sydney experiences that will be forever cherished. It is not often you get the opportunity to enjoy such a unique adventure. The Powerhouse Museum is such an inspiring place that embraces children’s curiosity and encourages them to dream big…and lets be honest, being able to tell your mates you had a sleep over with Batman is pretty darn cool!

All You Need To Know

  • The sleepover is recommended for children aged between 5-10 years old but if you need to bring a younger sibling along staff can make an exception

  • No bedding is provided so you must bring the following: sleeping bag, blankets, pillows, air bed (to avoid having to sleep directly on the carpeted floor, Pjs, toothbrush (note there are no shower facilities)

  • It is worth noting that the gallery temperature (where you sleep… underneath the planes and satellites on level 1) is variable so extra clothing and blankets are recommended! It did get a little cold in the early hours of the morning.

  • There is no onsite parking so I would suggest using public transport or alternatively using the Habourside Car Park (100 Murray street in Pyrmont, which is a 15 min walk to the Museum). The Museum will validate your ticket and it is $14 for 24 hours.
