BlackBear was created by three ex-tradies with a passion for barbecuing. Originally in Blacktown, BlackBear EQ opened last year, bringing the smokin' hot experience to families enjoying a day out at fun-filled Moore Park.
The food: it's all about the slow cooked meats here so vegetarians might want to keep walking - ALTHOUGH they do a mean Mac 'n' Cheese side (that's a perfect size for kids). They locally source the produce and the meats are smoked in the traditional low ’n’ slow method over Ironbark wood for up to 15 hrs. The Pork Belly Box ($20) includes the softest juciest pork belly rubbed in a secret blend of spices and smoked until meltingly tender and comes with slaw and potato crisps. There's also ribs, smoked cheeseburgers and a delicious cheesy corn. You can also get a Family Feast ($95) with brisket, pork belly, cheese & jalapeno, sausage, and chicken. Wash it down with traditional lemonade or spice things up with a whisky sour from the bar.
The games: We love that this place caters to the kids with giant beer pong and cornhole tossing to keep them occupied while the food is cooked. And it's the perfect place to let them run wild because this place is smack bang in the middle of the Entertainment Quarter, meaning no cars!
The music: Expect live blues and the best of American music performed by upcoming Aussie talent every Friday, Saturday and Sunday. This sets the mood swimmingly!
