The Picnic Train is Heading to Sydney

Little train enthusiasts will delight in hearing that the much-loved Picnic Train will be toot-tooting into Sydney for the first time in a decade!

The Picnic Train is Coming to Sydney!

The iconic Picnic Train is gearing up for a trip into Sydney for the first time in a decade and will be pulled along by the vintage 1953-built steam locomotive 5917.

Running between Newcastle and Sydney (return), The Picnic Train's exciting venture south runs on 28 May 2023 from 8.15 am to 7.25 pm, with the option to leave the train in Sydney. 

Departing from Newcastle Interchange, the journey will take in picturesque views between Newcastle, Broadmeadow, Gosford and finally Sydney. Once you arrive in Sydney, you'll have several hours to tour the city before jumping back into the historic carriage.
