The Australian Museum: FREE Entry

After a year of renovation and a 15 month $57.5m building transformation, The Australian Museum re-opened to the public on Saturday 28 November. 

To celebrate the reopening, general admission will be FREE for adults and children for a limited time. General admission includes entry to all permanent exhibitions, including the Tyrannosaurs – Meet the Family exhibition, which will excite budding palaeontologists young and old.

This summer the world’s most feared dinosaur, Tyrannosaurus rex, comes crashing into the new exhibition space at the Australian Museum and will be bringing along whole Tyrannosaur clan!

Aspiring palaeontologists of all ages will be enthralled with the colossal collection of skulls, fossil eggs, tyrannosaur skeletons. Come face-to-face with a life-sized T. rex, run for your life in a virtual experience, you can even hatch a dino egg in this interactive exhibition.

The little ones will be kept busy with touch screens, animation, immersive projections, and AI.

The Australian Museum also has a brand-new Prehistoric Playground. This creative play space for kids of all ages includes a fossil lab to explore real fossils, Paperassic Park, where you can design your own dinosaur and Take Flight, where kids can learn how feathers and wings have evolved for flight.  There is also an exciting school holiday program and families can also enjoy the Australian Geographic Nature Photographer of the Year Exhibition. 

Tickets are not required for general admission; however, you are required by the NSW Government to register your details on arrival for Covid-19 contact tracing purposes. The Australian Museum will be carefully monitoring capacities in venues, and will introduce timed ticketing for general admission if necessary.
