The City of Sydney’s annual four-week festival – Sydney Rides Festival is on again from 6 to 27 October – boasts more than 30 events that celebrate bikes and family fun in the outdoors.

With a big adventure in Sydney Park, a twilight picnic ride and a chocolate ride, to name a few, this year’s Sydney Rides Festival in October has more in store for Sydneysiders than ever before. Sydney Rides Festival 2018 highlights include:

The Big Adventure: Pedal, jump, dance or climb at this celebration of the outdoors and active living. For one day only Sydney Park will become an adventure playground for the whole family to explore on foot or by bike. Action-packed adventures include mountain boarding, parkour, breakdancing, rock-climbing and footy clinics. Feel the breeze at the kite flying field or take some time out in a yoga class. Quench your thirst with a pedal-powered smoothie and grab a bite to eat from a food truck.

Try A Bike session: Come along to a free lunchtime try-a-bike session for a safe and easy ride around the Domain and Mrs Macquaries Point. A selection of bikes will be available (helmets included) or bring your own.

When:      17 October 2018; 11.30am-2pm

Try A Bike session: Come along to a free lunchtime try-a-bike session for a safe and easy ride around Barangaroo. A selection of bikes will be available (helmets included) or bring your own.
Where:     Barangaroo Reserve, Sydney
When:      10 October 2018; 11.30am-2pm

Chocolate Rides: Eat your way around the backstreets of Marrickville on an almost calorie-neutral bike tour. Experienced guides will lead you to the hidden chocolatiers, gelato manufacturers, patisseries and specialty shops you never knew existed.

When:     20 October 2018; 9am-12pm & 10am-1pm

Spring Cycle: Spring Cycle offers participants of all levels and ages the opportunity to cycle through Sydney’s stunning landscape and take in the city’s most iconic sites. Participants have the option to choose from a 10km City Ride, 18km River Ride, 50km Classic Ride or the 105km Challenge Ride.

Twilight Harbourside Picnic Ride: Enjoy a festival atmosphere, with a picnic among friends at a beautiful harbourside location. Commencing at Federal Park picnic shelter, Glebe, we follow the harbour foreshore through Glebe, Pyrmont and Darling Harbour to Barangaroo Reserve for an early evening picnic.

When:     13 October 2018; 6.30am-9pm

Light the City: For 1 night only, Mrs Macquaries Road will be closed to cars and open for people to walk or ride past lights and special effects. Discover the rainbow path, tunnel of light, field of beams and more along the 2.5km loop. Soak up the ambience at the harbour-side outdoor lounge
