Dreaming of a Green Christmas

Elfis and Elvin the Elves have been sent to Australia to make preparations for Santa’s visit, but things don’t go to plan. These two cheeky elves will have you laughing and singing as they battle the harsh Aussie environment to make sure Christmas happens! Dress ups encouraged!

When:   21 - 23rd December 2022 | 10:00-11.00am 
Cost:     $14 per person | Foundation and Friends Members $12.50 per person. All children must be accompanied by a paying adult.
Age:      Recommended for children 4 - 8 years and their families. Infants under 12 months attend free with a paying adult.

Water Warriors

Jump into the wild world of water this summer at the Gardens!  Keep cool as we go dip-netting by the pond to see freshwater ecosystems come to life – what tiny critters will you discover?! We’ll learn how plants use their superpowers to save water in the midday heat before becoming Horticulturalists for the day as we learn how to start our very own mini succulent and cacti nursery to take home!  A parent or carer is required to supervise children in their care for the duration of this program. Parents, carers and infants 12 months and under attend free of charge.

Wind in the Willows

The amazing Mr. Toad and his bonny, boisterous pals will be heading to Sydney's Royal Botanic Garden to celebrate the 20th anniversary of The Wind in the Willows. Led by Head Chief Rabbit, Ratty and Mole and Weasel, the children go on a hilarious adventure, giggling all the way, as well as join an exciting mission with the Rat Pack and Badger Battalion to rescue the little lost otter, Portly from the Wild Wood. This is interactive theatre at its best! So, pack a picnic, pack the kids and head on down to the riverbank for this rollicking promenade production.

Garden Grubs

Time to ditch the screens and get outside - this all-day holiday program is full of fun adventures in the Garden!  Kids will spend the day exploring and participating in a range of creative and action-based activities whilst connecting with nature. Our talented and experienced Garden educators provide a nurturing and safe environment for Garden Grubs to explore the fascinating world of bugs, trees, nature, plant science and horticulture. Fun!

When:   11th, 12th, 19th, 20th, 23rd & 24th January 2023 | Long day 8:00 - 5:00pm | Standard day 9:30 - 3:30pm ​​​​​​​

Aboriginal Biscuits and Bush Tea

Accompanied by a First Nation guide, children will experience a taste sensation with Indigenous bush foods and ingredients. They’ll discover how Indigenous foods were traditionally prepared and consumed and how these foods are still enjoyed and savoured in our cooking today!

Sunset Spotlight Tour

Experience the Garden and its fascinating night-life on this adventure by torch-light. The Garden is an oasis waiting to be explored! Wander the garden pathways and visit biodiversity 'hotspots' such as the ponds to look for nocturnal animals - some who fly in for the night, others who are long-term residents. Use your senses and some tech-gadgets to help locate animals. You may see Golden Orb spiders, Brush-tailed Possums, Microbats, Flying Foxes or Tawny Frogmouths.
