If there's one thing that gets us really (really!) excited, it's a new playground opening. Well, get ready to get excited along with us because South Sydney is about to get a brand-spanking-new adventure playground!

The all-inclusive Adventure Playground in Oatley is set to open on 14 September and, after looking at the newly released pictures, we can't wait to go for a play! Aside from looking uber-cool, this is a particularly exciting playground opening because the park itself has been designed in collaboration with the local community. According to Georges River Council Mayor Kevin Greene, "Community feedback and ideas were collected at a special community 'Play Day' where preliminary concept designs were displayed. Ideas were then collated and used by the designers to prepare the final design in association with the council."

As locals and visitors to Oatley Park will know, the area is a stunning natural landscape and, as such, the new Adventure Playground has been carefully designed to fit in with the parks natural bushland setting. The new playground has been constructed predominantly from natural materials and includes a giant adventure walkway, flying fox, a toddler zone, breakout teen zone, worm tunnel, slide, play tower, and multiple play decks. New park furniture, picnic and barbecue facilities are included in the new park to ensure a great day out for the whole family. As part of the NSW Government's Everyone Can Play Program, over 80 per cent of the new Oatley Adventure Playground is accessible for children of all abilities.

A big grand opening is on the agenda on 14 September from 9.30 am and will include a sausage sizzle to raise funds for The Lions Club.
