Good Fortune Awaits At The Lunar New Year QVB Wishing Tree

In Chinese culture, pigs are the symbol of wealth and the Year of the Pig represents success in all avenues of life. Why not make your wishes come true at The QVB's Wishing Tree – a peach blossom tree installation beneath the historical central dome.

Peach blossoms are a popular motif often depicted in Chinese art. The tree itself was first cultivated in China more than one thousand years ago and is today revered as a symbol of longevity, prosperity and romance.

Reaching six metres tall and spanning more than four metres in diameter, it has to be seen to be believed. And if you look closer you'll see the blossoms are actually thousands of tiny felt piglets, in celebration of Year of the Pig.

On Level 2, visitors will find the QVB Wishing Station, a beautiful space to celebrate Lunar New Year. The QVB invites visitors to take a moment and share their wishes for the New Year, which will be displayed beneath the dome.

Sydney calligrapher Teresa Ling will be on site to craft complimentary and customised Lunar New Year prints using calligraphy and letterpress. Simply choose a background design and New Year greeting, and Teresa will apply a letterpress golden QVB Pig to add a finishing touch.
