The yearly free tree giveaway scheduled for 28 March has been postponed.

With the goal of encouraging Sydney residents to help the government reach its target of increasing the city’s urban canopy by 50% by 2030, the City of Sydney is giving away 1000 trees completely for free (please note this is only available to residents who live in the City of Sydney local area.)

Alongside little lads like hibiscus and other balcony-appropriate types, there will also be food-bearing species like pistachio, lemon and lime. And if you’re after something really tall, a 15ft jacaranda could be your take-home from the day.

You’re invited to Sydney Park (Alexandria) from 10am Saturday 28 March 2020 to attend the yearly free tree giveaway, join in the sausage sizzle and work out which leafy family member you’d like to adopt.

The City of Sydney has planted over 13,000 trees since 2005 – and already have around 44,000 trees on the city’s streets, parks and properties – but they’re planning for many, many more.

When:   10am Saturday 28 March 2020
Where:  Sydney Park, Alexandria
Cost:     FREE
