You want a giant ferris wheel? We've GOT a giant ferris wheel! Head to Waterfront City at Docklands and jump aboard the 120m tall Melbourne Star Observation Wheel, the biggest and most prominent ferris wheel in Melbs.

With uniterrupted 360-degree views of the CBD, Port Phillip Bay and even as far away as Mount Macendon, Arthur's Seat and the Dandenong Ranges, you will need every minute of the 30-minute ride to take it all in.

Described as "the Southern Hemisphere's only giant observation wheel, it has seven spokes, to reflect the seven-pointed star of the Australian flag.

Grab a day and night ticket so you can see Melbourne in daylight and brilliantly lit at night. Tickets start at $27.20 for a child, and two adults and one child comes in at $87.55 - each additional child is $22.95.

Tickets for one trip only begin at $22 for a child 5 - 15 years of age, or $16.50 if you book online with an online saver ticket.

Sky Rider Ferrris Wheel, Luna Park

If you're wandering around the wonderland that is Melbourne's Luna Park, you can't miss the Sky Rider - the cute bright yellow booths are right behind the gorgeous carousel.

The Sky Rider may look like one of the more gentle rides at the Park, but each swinging carriage travels high above other rides to offer a breathtaking views of, not only the Park, but the whole of St Kilda.

This 20m high classic Ferris Wheel is a great place to grab a little time out from the thrill rides and take in the Park in its entirety.

Berry Ferris Wheel, Funfields

For the not-so-great-with-heights set, jump on the 8m high, super-cute Berry Ferris Wheel at Funfields in Whittlesea.

With 6 carriages that can accommodate either 4 children or 1 adult and 2 children, this ride is a guaranteed family pleaser. Soar high above the Funfields Kidzone and enjoy the fantastic view of the Formula Fun, Burnout, Snakes Alive, Pony Express Carousel and you can even see Wacky Water!
