Thanks to complex engineering techniques, the newest library in town has established itself above and underground with six levels, on land that was previously a swamp!

Introducing City of Sydney's Green Square Library - officially now open, it's the newest addition to the up-and-coming hotspot Zetland (a pool of epic proportions is coming to the area shortly)

Introducing Green Square Sydney Library

An architectural marvel, the Green Square Library stands as a beacon of modern design and community-centric space.

The cutting-edge, award-winning design by two companies, Stewart Hollenstein together with Stewart Architecture, features a glass entry pyramid that lights up at night and 40 circular skylights; the 2,300 square metre open plan space is loaded with natural light that's perfect for getting lost in a book or hours of peaceful play.

Here are just some of the highlights.

Spaces for kids to relax and read.

Space, Glorious Space

Read, play and create in the dedicated comfy kids' space, with shelves full of all their favourite books and DVDs for hours of entertainment. In need of some fresh air? Hang out in the sunken shady garden or burn up some energy running around the plaza.

Beautiful views.

The Views

...complete with a baby grand piano! You'll find this stripped-back-chic music room on the library's fourth floor, and FYI it's available for hire for rehearsals.

The Guitar Library

With a brand new collection of all kinds of guitars (acoustic, electric, and bass) on offer, head to the Music Room where you can practise guitar to your heart's content - or play a virtual instrument with the mini-keyboard controllers!

So much for kids to see and do.

The Take-Home Makerspace Kits

Turn a banana into a touchpad or use a modular synthesiser to create your own instrument with the library's range of take-home makerspace kits - suitable for kids 5+, and a great way to introduce your little one to robotics and programming.

A tranquil retreat, the Rainbow Reading Room offers a cozy corner for readers of all ages.

The Rainbow Reading Room

Here weeded books have been transformed into a magical shelf art installation. Complete with armchairs, beanbags and views overlooking the plaza, this is the perfect place to go and if you and your little one are in need of some peace and quiet...make yourselves comfy! Here are some other quiet Sydney spots to check out with the kids.

There's an Aeroplane too!

There's an Aeroplane Too

Oh did we mention the casual aeroplane hanging from the ceiling!? The repurposed vintage aircraft is sure to be a hit with little ones (and big ones for that matter!).
