It is reported that every 15 hours a child is born with cerebral palsy, every seven hours a child is diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder and every two hours a child is diagnosed with an intellectual disability.* As children with special needs make up a significant proportion of our population, there is greater awareness of their unique challenges and the importance of inclusion, making sure all children can participate and have fun.

Australia's Largest All-Abilities Sensory Play Gym

Charging ahead with their mission to create that all-inclusive environment, The Shine Shed is now Australia's largest all-abilities sensory play gym! Designed from the ground up with a commitment to quality and equality, The Shine Shed has gone the extra mile to ensure that everyone has access to an exciting playcentre experience where all of their sensory needs are met.

The Shine Shed

Open to children, teens and young adults with autism and other disabilities, The Shine Shed encourages all children, with diverse degrees of ability, to develop skills and make friends in a fun, nurturing and supported setting. The purpose-built facility includes activities for those who are highly active to those who have significant physical needs.

Custom-built Equipment For Every Need

The Shine Shed

The Shine Shed offers a unique sensory play experience with specially-designed equipment including a huge play gym, foam pit, trampolines, flying fox, swings, cubby house, climbing walls, pretend play corner, trapeze, spin pods and a climbing gym, all with the highest safety standards. A sensory room with lowered lights, an activity wall and bubble columns, is a thoughtful retreat away from the action of the main play space for children that require a calmer, low sensory experience.

It's The Not-So-Little Things

The Shine Shed

It is a spacious and vibrant play centre full of activities for kids to jump, roll and slide on. However, they only cater to a small number of visitors at a time so each child receives a personal, tailored experience and plenty of attention from the friendly support team. Parents can breath easy knowing their children are well taken care of with adaptive seats, a wheelchair accessible-swing, ramps for easy access and a secure fence around the play area.

The Shine Shed

All the practicalities are also taken care of! There are changing facilities including a hoist and electric change table, disability access, dedicated parking and a kiosk. The Shine Shed also offers a range of party packages and host a collective monthly birthday club.
