Take a Sunday Drive... to Daylesford

  • Family

Pack some snacks, and fill 'er up - it's time to hit the road!

A fantastic way of seeing glorious Victoria in winter is from the inside of your warm vehicle, watching as the frosty-but-still-beautiful landscape rolls by as you move to pastures new.

One of our favourite places for a lazy Sunday drive is Daylesford, awesome for families who want to go "there and back again" in a day, especially those who are not in the mood for grumpy kids whining are we there yet? - because you'll be there before you know it!

Aaaaand breathe

Leave the hustle and bustle of Melbourne behind and step into another world as the road winds up into picturesque Daylesford.

There is tons of things to do in Daylesford for young and old alike - from simply driving around the town and surrounds (it's outrageously pretty from every angle!) to shopping in the boutiques, grabbing something to eat in any of the amazing cafes and restaurants, maybe catching a drink in one of the family-friendly pubs, or wander through gorgeous spots to soak in those nature vibes.

See the sights

Wanna know where to go? Why not try:

Where to eat and play

Once you've stretched your legs and revelled in the beauty that is Daylesford, it's time to dig in to what the town offers! Tons of galleries for the creative-minded, pick a cafe or restaurant to while away some time, or perhaps check out what events are on and head up for something special.

Feel like a bit of pampering (yes please!) or a spot of shopping? Daylesford delivers both, and well.

And of course, there is more family fun than you could experience in one day, but you'll just have to mark out another Sunday to do it all over again!

Getting there

From Melbourne, the Hume, Calder and Western highways and the Tullamarine Freeway all lead to Daylesford and the Macedon Ranges. Once there, an extensive network of peaceful back roads weave through the region to the essential indulgences of wineries, art galleries, country pubs and cafes, natural sights and family entertainment spots.

Where do you like to wander when it's time for a break from the city?
