Hold on to your meatballs! Two of our favourite Nordic brands have come together in the ultimate kids collaboration and their much-anticipated lovechild is almost here.

IKEA Australia and the LEGO Group have joined forces to develop the BYGGLEK collection -  a ‘play and display’ storage solution that will be in stores and online on 17 February 2021.

While IKEA has no shortage of cute storage items, the aim of this unique union was to create a practical and accessible product that encourages play and fun in itself.

The new BYGGLEK collection is due for take off!

What makes BYGGLEK boxes so cool is that they have LEGO studs on the top and the front, so brick-building lovers can integrate the storage boxes into their LEGO creations, displaying their masterpieces on top and storing excess bricks inside.

“At IKEA, we believe that play makes both the home and the world a better place” said Cesar Ramirez, Home Furnishing Leader for Children’s IKEA, “The purpose of BYGGLEK is to help contain your play without restricting imagination and creativity. You can use the box as part of the story.”

“BYGGLEK is more than boxes” added Rasmus Buch Løgstrup, designer at the LEGO Group, “It is storage and play intertwined. BYGGLEK provides families with a product range that helps create space for more play in their everyday - fuelling creativity, making it possible to have more fun together. It’s a possibility to play, display the cool creations and return to it to replay, remake, recreate or start over. BYGGLEK is all about endless possibilities, just like the LEGO System in Play.”
