Campbelltown Billabong Parklands Project Opening in 2024
- All Ages
Bondi, Manly... Campbelltown? That's right; the greater west will soon be home to a brand new 'beach' thanks to the Campbelltown Billabong Parklands Project.
There have been murmurings of a "Campbelltown Beach" and "Campbelltown Lagoon" for years and we're happy to report that plans are most definitely underway for a beach/lagoon outdoor precinct for Campbelltown - hoorah!
Campbelltown Billabong Parklands Project Opening in 2024
The Campbelltown Billabong Parklands Project has been deemed a water wonderland oasis and was started in June 2020 with an expected completion date of the end of March 2024 or sooner (depending on the weather).
According to Campbelltown Mayor George Brticevic, the unique water attraction is building on the city’s campaign for Sydneysiders to ‘re-imagine’ Campbelltown as a vibrant, thriving destination and shed all negative perceptions.
The proposed central 'lagoon' design draws inspiration from other similar lagoon designs in Queensland, including Yeppoon Foreshore & Lagoon, and Orion Lagoon in Springfield.
Photos have been released of the Campbelltown Billabong Parklands Project breaking ground (so to speak!), with the main focus now moving onto the hero of the Parklands - the 16,000-square-metre Billabong swimming pool, which will feature:
- Rockpools with streams (inspired by the rapids, waterfalls and rock pools of the Dharawal National Park)
- a 2.5-metre-deep lagoon
- zero-depth water play area with a range of interactive water elements.
The four-hectare site is located at the corner of The Parkway and Moore-Oxley Bypass, Bradbury and will also feature:
- water play
- expansive lawn areas
- pavilions with change facilities and a cafe
- picnic areas with seating
- winding pathways
- shade structures
- natural tree cover and garden beds with native plants.

typical design, almost completely open area so in summer you cook while playing in the water, meanwhile you car bakes in the sun on the tar car park which could have been solar panel covers across the whole car park which powers the whole park and then some. this is the design of old days, not the future.

Campbelltown is actually only 35 minutes from beautiful south coast beaches of Bulli and Austinmer, it's a scenic drive through beautiful bushland. Much closer to the beach than many other parts of Sydney
