Cleveland Point Park, Cleveland Point

Fancy a feast of fish and chips by the bay? Cleveland Point Park is the perfect location for an easy and relaxing picnic lunch. Grab one of the picnic tables or bring a picnic blanket and set yourself up in the grassy area. Cleveland Point Park offers stunning views of the bay and lighthouse, and there’s a great playground for kids.

Pelican Park, Clontarf

Pelican Park is a great spot for a picnic with the family. There’s a fun boat-themed playground to keep the kids happy when they’re not busy exploring the beach and paddling in the water. There’s plenty of space to set up a picnic with electric barbecues and toilet facilities also available. If you start your day early, you can watch the volunteers at the Clontarf Visitor Information Centre feed the local pelicans with fresh fish.

River Quay Green, South Bank

There’s something special about South Bank’s River Quay Green. It could be the live music on Sundays, the stunning view of the Brisbane River and city skyline (this is magic on dusk by the way), or the beautifully expansive grassed area. Bring your own picnic hamper or treat yourself to a gourmet hamper from one of the local restaurants. There’s plenty of room for the kids to run, play and cartwheel in while you sit back and enjoy the view. Oh, and did we mention it’s licensed from 10 am to 8 pm?

Kangaroo Point Cliffs

The cliffs on the lower river terrace offer the perfect backdrop for a picnic. Set up camp beside the river at one of the picnic tables or under a shady tree on the grass. There are barbecues available, toilets and plenty of space for the kids to run and amble over rocks.

New Farm Park

New Farm Park is positively pumping of a weekend, but don’t worry there’s plenty of space for everyone! Choose a spot down by the river under the shade of the trees or find a patch closer to the tree-house fort playground to keep the kids happy. Bring a cricket bat and ball, a football or frisbee and make the most of this beautiful inner-city space. There are picnic tables available, electric barbecues, toilets and space, so much open space!

Rocks Riverside Park, Seventeen Mile Rocks

A favourite with the kids – the Rocks Riverside Park playground and water play area is always a hive of activity. There’s plenty of grassed areas to set up a picnic blanket and barbecue facilities and toilets. Take a walk along the riverside or sit back and relax while the kids burn off some energy in the playground.
