River Quay Green, South Bank
There’s something special about South Bank’s River Quay Green. It could be the live music on Sundays, the stunning view of the Brisbane River and city skyline (this is magic on dusk by the way), or the beautifully expansive grassed area. Bring your own picnic hamper or treat yourself to a gourmet hamper from one of the local restaurants. There’s plenty of room for the kids to run, play and cartwheel in while you sit back and enjoy the view. Oh, and did we mention it’s licensed from 10 am to 8 pm?

New Farm Park
New Farm Park is positively pumping of a weekend, but don’t worry there’s plenty of space for everyone! Choose a spot down by the river under the shade of the trees or find a patch closer to the tree-house fort playground to keep the kids happy. Bring a cricket bat and ball, a football or frisbee and make the most of this beautiful inner-city space. There are picnic tables available, electric barbecues, toilets and space, so much open space!
Rocks Riverside Park, Seventeen Mile Rocks
A favourite with the kids – the Rocks Riverside Park playground and water play area is always a hive of activity. There’s plenty of grassed areas to set up a picnic blanket and barbecue facilities and toilets. Take a walk along the riverside or sit back and relax while the kids burn off some energy in the playground.
