Queensland Ballet

If you ask Queensland Ballet, you’re never too young to learn to dance. Queensland ballet offers an early years dance program for children aged 1 – 5 years to introduce them to the magic of ballet. The 10-week course focuses on fostering your child’s creativity, musicality and movement, as well as improving their confidence and coordination.

Reese Dance, Berrinba 

Get your butterfly wings at the ready, kids. The Ready Set Ballet program on offer at Reese Dance promises a 30-minute magical experience filled with friends, feathers and fun. Aimed at pre-school aged children, Ready Set Ballet focuses on developing confidence, creativity and coordination. Jazz, ballet and tap combination classes are available for both boys and girls and once they reach primary school age, they can focus on ballet … jazz … tap or whatever other form of dance takes their fancy. Julie-Ann Lucas School of Dance, Annerley

A love of movement and dance is nurtured from an early age at Julie-Ann Lucas School of Dance (JAL) with Mummy and Me classes available for kids 3 and under. Don’t be surprised if you start your child with Julie-Ann at age two and keep coming back year after year. This ever-expanding studio has a fun and welcoming atmosphere with teachers who are professional, focused and encouraging. JAL offers pre-school and pre-junior classes, including a combination of jazz, ballet and tap, where children are taught the basics of each style of dance in a fun and nurturing environment. From age 7, children can specialise in classical (RAD) ballet, and participate in exams.

Sayers Dance Centre, Kenmore

If your school aged child is serious about dance, Sayers offers an excellent classical ballet program for school aged children and above. Sayers will ensure your child builds a strong dance technique complete with posture, poise and strength and develop their skills and confidence. Teachers are from the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) and exams are available for interested students. Toddler creative dance classes and classes for pre-school aged children are also available.
