Have you subscribed to the ellaslist weekly Sunday newsletter? When we know there’s rain ahead we pack it full of great indoor events and places to go: Get on the list here

Rain, Rain – great for ducks and plants – hard work for parents and kids! If you need some inspiration for beating the rainy day blues, why not head to an indoor playcentre? The kids get a work out, mum or dad gets a coffee and everyone stays nice and dry. Here are some of Sydney’s best:

East/City: The all-new Monkey Mania at the Entertainment Quarter – play equipment for ages 1-12, dedicated toddlers area and electric kiddies go-karts!. There’s also Little Dynamos in Alexandria. This place is huge with a 4 level play structure and dedicated toddler areas. You’ll also find an indoor play area in Westfield Eastgardens Shopping Mall.

Inner West: Try indoor rock climbing for something different on a rainy day. The excellent Sydney Indoor Climbing Gym at St Peters has great after school, holiday and weekend programs for kids 5 and up. Corner Cubby House is a great soft play centre and has a particularly good area for the Under 4′s as well as great equipment for older children.

North Shore: Wizzy World in Chatswood is one of Sydney’s biggest indoor playgrounds. As well as the massive traditional play area which includes jumping castles and toddler area, there’s also a great, big purpose built indoor sports facility where the kids can practice mini soccer, netball and basketball.

Northern Beaches:You’re spoiled for choice in this neck of the woods with Sandbucket Play Centre in Narrabeen, Rockhouse Indoor Climbing, Play Planet and Big Blast in Brookvale, French’s Forest’s Lollipopland and Cheeky Monkeys in Warriewood offering great indoor play areas. You’ll also find a recently upgraded play area in Warringah Mall Shopping Centre.

Our favourite Play Centre in Sydney can be found here in the Northern beaches at French’s ForestWannabees. Recently opened in 2012, not only do they offer climbing frames and play structures, they have built an entire indoor city with 14 different play zones where children can dress up, role play and engage in imaginative play including a Hospital, Bank, Supermarket, Firestation, TV studio and lots more. Take a look at all their attractions. It’s a really unique centre – Recommended.

Add a new location/area to your search engine

Could you include a ‘ north west/hills’ section to your search engine? In in Beecroft and there are a few things for kids that I know of, but possibly more that I don’t know about. What about parramatta? Ryde? There’s a great new indoor playland at Macquarie centre called chipmunks, which hadnt come up on any of my searches.
I’m really glad to see youve added a note about sportsbliss at thornleigh though – Ive been taking my 2.5 yo there since it opened & it’s perfect!

    Indoor Softplay

There’s an amazing indoor softplay area at Thornleigh.

It’s off Sefton Road, above North Shore Timber, in the same place that the swimming pool for Aquabliss is.

They’ve got a cafe as well. It’s awesome, my boy loves it when I take him there.

    Indoor playcentre

I just had to write about a centre we visited twice this week. We went to club kids in roselands for the first time on Tuesday and boy were we impressed. So impressed in fact that we came back ion Thursday, my kids absolutely loved it. They have a school holiday program running with various different activities daily. We saw the reptile show on tuesday and the bubble show on thursday. My son got to hold a snake – what a thrill he had. Anyway just quickly the centre is awesome. Very clean. Good clean food. Happy happy happy.
