On the top of the hill along the Bondi to Bronte walk sits a very small and quiet playground in Hunter Park. It’s got a couple of swings; one with a baby bucket, a see-saw, a spinner and a small climbing frame with tube slide and a shop counter underneath. As playgrounds go, it’s nothing to shout about but it’s got an incredible view and it’s attached to a large expanse of flat grass that’s just great for kids who just want to run so take a ball, have a good kick around and tire them out.
There’s really not much else up there except some excellent views of Bondi, but you’ll always find a good breeze. There’s a few trees round the perimeter and a bit of shade in the playground, otherwise it’s pretty exposed. But if you feel you want to be on the top of the world for a bit and get some air in your lungs this is the place to go. There are public toilets at the opposite end from the playground. Access is either from the Bondi / Bronte walk via massive stairs, definitely not recommended with a stroller, otherwise parking is on the streets around the top. Enter via Kenneth or Fletcher Street.
Don’t miss the fantastic Sculptures by the Sea exhibition held here every year around end Oct, early November.
